So after 5 days off from running, 2 of which I soaked my bod in a hot tub overlooking the beautiful Shropshire hills 😊 I finished my 50k August Challenge this morning (52/50k) with a couple of days to spare 👏🏻👏🏻😊. It was great to listen to my tunes and get out there again and plod away at my own pace.
So 50k on what have I learned?
I’ve learned that I actually enjoy running, especially outside. Never thought I’d say that! 😲
I’ve learned that 3k is now comfortable, 4K is manageable but the full 5k is still hard.
I’ve learned how to manage my pace, which has got quicker. It began at 9+ min/km and is now 8min/km, sometimes tipping just below into a magic 7 something 😊. Not bad for an old bird 😂
I’ve learned that I’m actually quite competitive and have been trying to increase my pace and stamina constantly since graduating as well as signing up for virtual runs and challenges - hence the 50k in August
I’ve learned that I consider myself a runner now 🏃♀️😊
So what’s next? I’m returning to real life work in September and my aim is to continue to run 3 times a week despite having a crazy busy job, and to just enjoy my runs, no pressure, no challenges. Fitting in running will be enough of a challenge I think.
Happy running everyone 🏃♀️🏃♂️ Thanks for the support and inspiration. This journey has been amazing and this group is truly amazing too 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😘
