Running around in the blustery weather was interesting this morning! Great when the wind was behind me 🤣 Felt fine, breathing good, but boy do my hamstrings and calves ache now? Maybe it is time to routinely do proper stretches afterwards......

Well done !.......I had aches on my legs too - what I had was a tip from some on here and a friend of mine who runs 4 times a week - he stands outside and jogs slowly on the spot but really pushed his body high on each upwards movement like a huge tip toe like a stretch, he does this for just 2 mins - it warms up most of the leg muscles and he still does a 5 fast paced walk and then his run and just 2 mins of stretches on the legs after.
Since ive done this - had no aches......good luck and keep it up!
Stretching immediately after every run, nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/h... while muscles are still warm and supple, pulls out contractions, avoiding carrying tensions into the next run and also improves recovery by improving blood flow, as recommended in the guide to the plan.
Many people do not hold their stretches for long enough or put enough effort in. Hold post run stretches for 30 seconds and make sure the pull is strong enough to be on the verge of discomfort.
