I went for my first run of week 7 this morning but I had to stop after just over 12 minutes. I had calf pain, couldn’t get my breathing in a rhythm and was so hot. I’ve never stopped on another run before, and I ran the 25 minutes for the end of week 6 two days ago... feeling very upset right now! Any advice for next time?

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Can you speak aloud, clear, ungasping sentences as you run?.........if not, you are going too fast.

My first run of W7 was my bête noir, nearly finished me. In my case, I was just trying to go too fast. So be sure to keep it really slow, these longer runs take it out of you.

That said, as far as tight calves go, I find a slightly longer stride helps...not faster, just longer...

i'm in the same place as you!! w7r2 coming up. I definitely think going slower than we think we need is important - 25 minutes is a long time! Struggling on a run is tricky mentally but think you've already doe it on w6r3 - so maybe just go out with a fresh outlook + a new route and give it your best :)

Also right now its basically a sauna outside!! we're all finding it so hard at thats okay - hopefully soon it'll cool which will make a big difference too

Thank you all! I took a couple of days off, spent them stretching my muscle. I ran it this morning with no issues 😊
