Week 7 Out of the Way - 6 Runs Left

Yesterday was a total rest day, no cycling due to the weather, I like it but I'm not going to go out and get soaked just so I can say I've done it.

The run this morning was a great one, a nice slow, steady pace with deep diaphragmatic breathing. I managed to keep my heartrate in zone 4 all the way through (that's the Garmin HR which is different to Strava).

I had to make a phone call 8 minutes before the end of it (Mrs LeeU txt me) and it looks like it threw the entire back end calculations on Garmin and paused the C25K app for the length of the phone call, so I ran slightly longer than 25 minutes, sorry.

According to Garmin Connect and my watch, my recover time is 0 hours and the training effect is a 1.0.

The heartrate, pace, cadence, etc, all show perfectly, the calorie count is half of Wednesday's run but I can live with that.

Note to self, don't make a phone call during a run again.

So I'm now back to week 8 on Monday, if the weather stays as it is forecast to do then I may go for a joffle down the canal. I potentially had 2 bike rides between now and then so lets see how it goes.

Happy running everyone!

Sounds like we’re at same point ?

You’ve clearly got this - all sounds under control if only it wasn’t for the darn txt/phone calls 😏

Great job - keep going - meet you at other end of W8

Good luck!

We definitely can do this

It does indeed. However, I know we can do this, while the extra 3 minutes doesn't sound a lot it can sometimes be a long 3 minutes, just take it slow and steady, we'll be fine.

We have 6 runs left, 21 runs done, we've gone from one minute runs to 25 minutes, in seven weeks.

The first time I completed C25K I came up with a mantra once I'd done W5R3:

If I can run for 20 minutes, then I can run for 25,

If I can run for 25 minutes, then I can run for 28,

If I can run for 28 minutes, then I can run for 30,

If I can run for 30 minutes, then I can graduate.

It helped with a lot of the mental re-enforcement and to be honest, as I pushed the time out after I'd graduated I'd just change the times to suit the run I was going to do.

You now way past the 20 minute phase as you know you can run for longer than that, just pick a slow and steady pace, deep diaphragmatic (belly) breathing and you got this :)
