Okay so I took a good while off, icing my shins and really didn't get back out there until there was ZERO pain, which seems to have worked.
Today's run went well, I definitely didn't do the whole thing and was very patchy but idc. I want to go slow, ease back into this and slowly work my way up. I will be doing wk5r1 another few times until I can do it comfortably and then going up to 6 minutes, rather than straight to 8. It certainly seems that following the exact plan doesn't work for me and I need to not increase my time that much in one go.
I also got fitted with brand new shoes which have increased stability so I think this helps. I went to a specialist store to have my gait analysed and I really think it's worth it. I'd recommend to anyone who's doing C25k.
Anyways, glad to be back and going slowly into this. I will finish all of it, whether it takes me another 9 weeks or 9 months (although hopefully not). The plan is still 5k by Christmas.

That's good news! You might find the new shoes are enough to make the difference and that you can follow the plan as is. Two rest days instead of one would give you more recovery time. Another thing you could try is running w2r1, then w3r1, then w4r1, then w5r1 (rather than keep repeating the same run until you are actually ready for it) - that gives you a gradual comeback with a high chance of success and without the patchy bits 😆. Just some thoughts! However you approach it, you are clearly being sensible and should get to graduation in one piece now. Good luck and enjoy!
