My brother, who’s 51 had a heart attack last year. I told him about Couchto5k and he wants to know if it’ll be safe? He cycles and is ok with that.

The best person for your brother to ask if it's OK to run is his doctor, nevertheless there are many people who have taken up running after a heart attack, but be safe and ask doctor.

Hi,

In theory, yes, but I’d say not until he’s spoken to his GP/Heart Specialist to make sure... they may even give him a heart rate limit while he gets started.

Sorry we can’t be any more help than that... and hop that he’s able to start this journey soon.

Hi Mitchm.

I took up C25K following a diagnosis of coronary heart disease (so haven’t had a HA) but with the knowledge and encouragement of my Drs.

So firstly, I would recommend your brother speaks to his GP/ cardiac team.

There are several HA survivors on this forum and I’m sure one will be in touch before long. There are also many who regularly undertake Park Runs.

It’s a great programme and I’m sure your brother will live it! Good luck.
