Cycling between runs

I've been doing really well and ran my W6R2 yesterday. It was so much tougher than I was expecting. Up until now I've felt pretty much ok but my legs were heavy from the start. I did the initial walk at my usual high pace but running was a struggle. My legs never feel tired usually and it is lack of breath that slows me down. The only thing I can think is that I went on a cycle the day before but wasn't really pushing it. Thoughts? I'm not going to cycle today just in case but was hoping to be able to introduce cycling on non run days.

Cycling is great cross training for rest days, but if you overdo it you will feel it in your legs. Build up gradually, exactly as you have with C25k.

Congratulations on completing run 2 of week 6, only one more run, the 3rd run of week 6 and you will officially be a runner, perhaps that cycle ride the previous day did make your legs a bit sore and heavy for your run, I cycled 21K last week and certainly would not have thought of a 25 minute run the next day, give yourself an extra day off running, don't cycle and then run, run 3 of week 6.

Sounds like you’re not getting enough oxygen too. that happened to me on the same run. i’ve got a slow steady pace now which has helped. Running.com has loads of help so check it out

Thanks folks. All good advice. I'm having a day off apart from normal dog walks today, in preparation for the big one tomorrow 😀👍
