Ok guy’s, I’m on W1R2 and I was talking to a friend of mine that put a thought in my head that made me think if it’s possible or not. I would love to do a 10k charity run for bowel cancer, I lost my mum 4 years ago from bowel cancer!! I know I won’t be ready for 10k at the moment but can anyone give me advice on how long it will take to train for the charity run (if it is possible)

I'm no expert at all but if you follow the C25k plan and then the Bridge to 10k plan it will hopefully get you there. 4 months as an approximate figure? Everyone is different however. Don't ever rush it because all the runs you do and all the miles in the tank will get you there.

Well the run is end of this month (March) so no chance I’ll be ready for that one! So Iv emailed them and the next charity run is next year 👍

There are lots of runs that you can do and choose your own charity. You don't have to do this specific one. We'll done for giving yourself that extra bit of motivation to do it though, I found that helped me to keep it up.

Hi chewey., I'm on week 3 run 3 I had never done anything like this before. I have entered a 10k on the 24th of May. I don't expect to run the whole way. I entered to give myself a goal, make sure I get up and keep heading outside and off the couch. You can do as much or as little as you want. Nobody's is going to judge you. Sign up for your local park run and it will help in your preparation for a 10k. Good luck

It took me a few days shay of 4 months from starting C25K to running my first 10k, but that is just me and you may do it quicker, and you may do it slower.

Given that most organised runs are being postponed or cancelled, what you could do is set set yourself a goal (say early August), create a go fund me page for the charity of your choice, get people to sponsor you and just go for it. It's not quite the same as being part of an actual event, but it still gives you something to aim for and may help if the motivation flags a bit.
