Hi, I invested in good trainers and started Couch to 5k and during wk2 run 1 developed knee pain. At first below the patella on the inside of the leg but now seems to involve the whole knee, when I straighten my leg my knee feels it will bend backwards. I dont have any swelling. I have tried ice packs, a knee brace and a knee support strap but still have pain after 5 days and can not run. I have less pain walking when I shorten my stride. Does anyone have an idea what the problem is, how I can heal and avoid it happening again? Thanks

Knee Pain
Welcome to the forum and well done on
getting started.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
Your problem is the impact of running, so if you follow the advice in the guide you may avoid it.
Knee strengthening is also recommended.
Enjoy your journey.
Thank you. I have read the guide and watched a few videos. I think my stride was too long and I was landing my heel first. I did invest in some good shoes but I didnt know I could have my gait analysed first.
Without gait analysis shoe purchase is a shot in the dark.
I found out today the shop I purchased the shoes from do gait analysis but even though I explained that I wanted good shoes to avoid knee trouble (the reason I gave up step) they didnt offer it. Anyway I had physio today for acute enthesopathy of the left Gracilis. I should be able to run again once healed.
