I’m a big bird and so far have not lost weight but I’m

Not fussed at mo as feel amazing and definitely lost a couple of inches somewhere. But I do find I need to eat at times as feel bit lightheaded. Am I burning fuel differently. Does this apply if I’m still a chunky chick?????

I'm not an expert so I can only tell you how it works for me...I can run at 6am and then not eat until dinner (happened a couple of times) but if I haven't eaten the night before a run I can feel dizzy, so I'm guessing some energy is more easily available than others.

Thx. I run at 5.30, have a banana before I go and then porridge when showered before work. By 11 I’m feeling ravenous and have to eat rather than just fancy something

I read an article about this a while ago, just trying to remember...I'll look for it again

Porridge makes me hungry. I choose a low carb option of eggs.

Basically, most running experts will tell you that you need to eat more protein/carbs when you’re a runner. They say you should eat low GI before a run, things like porridge, this is slow release, so it keeps you going throughout the run. You have a 15 minute window after your run where you’re encouraged to eat high GI foods... Like a banana or potatoes, even cake 😋 This helps with recovery.

Even though you are maybe wanting to lose some weight , when you are exercising also you've got to make sure you are eating enough so that you don't get light headed and plenty water. Good luck 😊

Thanks, definitely upped the water intake and feel better for that. 👍🏻

You need to fuel the running, but healthily.... :) The machinery will not run on empty..but there is no need, or shouldn't be, to have a special diet for anything up to 10K...

If you do have a healthy eating regime, every day and hydrate well every day too, that should be enough... runs are best fuelled on real food:)

Some very basic ideas here...

bbcgoodfood.com/howto/guide...

I ran my HM, just on my normal eating regime and hydration...no issues at all :)

This looks brilliant, thank you 👍🏻

There are other articles online re running and fuel..but many focus on long runs...although the ideas in there are great... :)

I eat well and healthily 90 % of the time.( weakness is cheese) !!.hydration for me is paramount... my Nan used to call water...Adam's Ale or the drink of Lions:)

I start my morning on two digestive lights and a cuppa... and then eat breakfast when I get back... favourite is avocado on home made bread( toast) or... as a real treat smoked salmon and scrambled eggs..but that is a real, not all the time, treat!

Read a couple of the other replies... it’s possible if you’re running 10 hours after last eating to boost fat burning for a lot longer than the run, which (I’m not an expert) is probably down to there being less carbs available to make glycogen to replace that which has been burned. A little post run protein and a dash of carb should suffice. When my daughter does this, she takes it off her portion for the next meal so that she’s not eating extra... then on other occasions she gets a tub of halo top and consumes 5k’s worth of calories in a high protein ice cream... whole pint!

I found with running I had to change my diet, I’ve never been a big carb fan but now I eat heaps of pasta, rice, quinoa, potatoes! Just started coming naturally, it’s been helping my runs too.

Hey Vintage,

I’ve recently changed to evening runs, and whilst I’m still hungry afterwards, I have a banana which staves off the hunger pangs. I have my evening meal 2 hrs before I go out and that definitely makes a difference for me.

When I run in the mornings I tend to want to eat all day long.

I guess it’s all about making sure you’re fuelled up ahead of your runs which isn’t easy on the morning runs. X

This is helpful thank you. Evening runs don’t work for me so I will look at my fuelling situation 👍🏻

I have Bircher muesli often for breakfast some times before a run then a banana and lots of water....

Winter time it will be porrage.

Try with low fat yogurt.

Eggs are good on return from a run as well.

Rest of the time I have low carb or low GI foods.

Works for me as since September 2018 with diet and C25K I've lost 28kg and gone from a 40 inch waist to a 32. Run 30 minutes every other day, 5.5k, and once a week a longer run of around 6.6/7K.

Good luck, find what works and stick to it.😀
