Runner’s knee

Does anyone suffer? I saw a physio today about another issue and she said it was fine to keep running as long as it doesn’t hurt all the time. She also advised to vary the running terrain. I was happy because I’ve started to love running and didn’t want to be forced to stop so soon!

Great the physio had some good news. I had some knee ache and I bought knee supports and wore them for a week or two then pain went away and never had to use them again. Good luck 😊

I think I might have this. Lower, inside just below kneecap. Like you, I'm still doing the program as the pain eases when I'm not running. Just got back from w3r3 and hasn't got any worse. Plodding on!

Hi I suffered from knee pain on the inside of one knee after week 5 r3 . After 2 wks off I got straight back on with week 6 with no issues. Then the other knee did the same at week 8 ! Another 2 weeks off and carried on and completed C25K. Had no issues since thank God. Good luck with the running 😊

There are some exercises for runner's knees (or runners' knees?) on the NHS site, nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/k.... I found the sitting down thigh contractions particularly useful.

Ah thankyou! She gave me about a million exercises for my existing stomach injury so I’ll add those to the list 😬

Yes during week 2 and 3. I took ibuprofen a lot, especially an hour before running. It went in a week or so.

Yes ibuprofen works really well on it. Hoping it goes soon!

What is runners knee exactly?

She said it’s to do with the fat pad behind your knee cap (it’s supposed to be fat, she wasn’t hinting 😜). It’s more of a muscles need building up thing rather than a muscles are being damaged thing
