Hi everyone, well I manage to do the dreaded run 3 today- had been putting it off because of the weather but went to Pilates at lunchtime, felt really energised and thought I’d give it a go. It was really hard but once I’d done 10 minutes I couldn’t bear to give up ! I’d read lots of posts about the run on here and the advice and encouragement that everyone gives each other really helped.
However I’m not really enjoying the running and find myself glancing at the time far more than I should! I’m listening to Spotify but much as I love music it doesn’t distract me enough from the agony of keeping going. Today I tried a podcast for the first 15 minutes, switching to music for the last 5 which was a bit better. What do other people do ? I’d love to just be able to be ‘in the zone’- does this happen for most people- I can’t see myself ever being in that position.

That's a good encouragement to me. I've just done week 5, run 2 and that felt pretty hard. I've been considering doing that again before trying run 3, but will wait for a couple of days until deciding, to see how I feel. I agree that music isn't that distracting - my problem is that I can't change what I'm listening to on the run (waiting for some running tights with pockets to arrive) - I have to stop, which is not really the point!
That's a difficult run, well done! Be proud of yourself. I listen to music and enjoy the scenery as I run along the canal. I realise I enjoy it when I can't go and miss it. I feel the counting down and knowing what's left helps me to carry on.
