A blast of morning air. Great for the soul.

First run for a while, I've been trying to incorporate some cycling to help build up strength without too much impact.

5:30 alarm this morning, i was half tempted to roll over and go back to sleep. But no, i thought better of it, my knee was pretty much pain free. So got the usual running clobber on, which alway feels like a chore at 5:30!

We've had a lot of rain here recently so was sceptical about how the weather was going to be. To my surprise it was misty and looked like it was going to be a lovely day.

I set off with the usual 5 min warm up and some soothing music in my ears.

I was determined to go slow and steady - i usually get carried away. I kept it nice and steady and once warmed up stoped to do some small stretches to keep everything ok.

When i don't run, i always forget how great at clearing your head running is. I thought things over and felt positive. Its great at readjusting my mental balance, i know my knee has been giving me a little trouble for a while but once out running i felt great ( and sightly out of breath!)

I ended up doing around 8k ( i wasn't too bothered how far i went) this did include some walking too. Im genuinely pretty excited to run again.

I think sometimes we can be too driven to do more/ go further, instead of just being out and enjoying the fresh air and knowing that any exercise is better than being wrapped up like a hamster in bed!

Thanks all.

I’m always in awe of those of you who get up at that time for a run. I manage it once a year for my HM and I know I would never do it for a run run 😀, sounds like a lovely run, Rfc x

I’ve always considered doing an afternoon/ evening run but after work I can’t seem to motivate myself enough.

I read somewhere that we have a natural body clock for exercise and we can all be a bit different, I am lucky enough to be able to go out mid morning and it is my preferred time. I have never run after 5pm in the six years I have been running, I’m not sure I could 😀.
