I’ve completed W7R2 this morning and I’m finding it takes me about 10 minutes to settle breathing, then my legs start hurting and feeling heavy for the remaining 15 mins. I’m hoping if I just keep on going it’ll get easier?

The first bit is known as the toxic ten - your muscles warming up and your body racing to get the right amount of oxygen to feed the muscles. The next bit is just probably because you’re still building stamina. The other thing is you’re probably running too fast at this stage. I run this way m.youtube.com/watch?v=9L2b2... It’s low impact and can really help get you through these next few weeks as the durations increase. You could also consolidate in this way. Then if you want, when you’ve built more muscle and all those new blood capillaries that will make you a stronger runner you can work on pace later if you wish. I love running this way (there are some interesting fine points to the technique so worth watching a few times), but this has enabled me to run for longer rather than faster. I posted yesterday as I’d run fo an hour for the first time - that wouldn’t be possible in any other way! So give it a whirl and see if it works for you.

Are you drinking enough water? I’ve found this really makes a difference, I wasn’t much of a water drinker but now make sure I drink 2l a day (especially the day before) and it makes a huge difference to my legs! I’ve just finished week 7 and am the same on the toxic 10, after that it either settles or I stop thinking about it!

Great idea of building stamina with that Japanese slow jogging! I’m going to see if I can get my mum and sister to join me doing that!

I’m probably not drinking enough water either! I’ll make a concerted effort to increase it as I’m a bit of a tea addict!
