I am 75 years old , Just completed first week and feel I should do exactly the same again. In other words not rush into higher grade second week.

Any thoughts

Well, YoungDickie - that sounds a fab reason to move onto Week 2! You have the mind-gremlins under control, no mention of 'tomato' face and 'gasping for breath' after 1 minute of running. So, you should follow the programe. The exercise will really help the blood sugar issues!

Remember to run SLOWLY (I do a shufflejog and you are 50% older than I am). I can't believe how I could walk for hours, but running is so much harder! 7 weeks ago I was struggling to run for 60 seconds!

I am on W8 now, but having to take a few more rest days due to a cold - this is very frustrating as I want to graduate before my 50th and I only have a couple of weeks to go!

Well done on your progress so far, and keep us updated with your next week's runs!

Youngdickie, you’re amazing! My brother is 70 - how do I persuade him to get off the couch as well?! Happy running!

If you feel strong enough, progress onto week 2. But if you are doubtful I can’t see why repeating a week would be a problem. It’s your training, you know how you feel. You’re doing great!

While we recommend that if you complete a workout then you are ready to move onto the next one, just to maintain momentum, there is nothing wrong with the slow and steady approach, as long as you are not holding back because of fear. Fear needs facing and overcoming.

This plan is flexible, so do whatever works for you.
