R3W7 Done - how to set your pace from one run to the next?

Found the last of the 25 mins run harder than first two, but got it done & finished a bit further on my route which is a Park Run route. I’m finding it difficult to judge pace. Any advice on keeping a consistent pace (not during a run) from one run to the next - it’s nice to go further but it suggests I ran a bit too quickly & found it harder.

Rhythmic breathing can help you to control your pace. For example, 4/4 in/out breathing is quite a slow pattern when running - you will find with experience that you will be able to do a small range of paces using that pattern. Likewise a 3/3 pattern will also lead to a range of paces - generally faster than the 4/4 pattern. 2/2 pattern for me is for hard finishes at parkrun only. :)

I am no expert but l also fell into the trap of trying to run faster for the last minute.....and regretting it!

I listen to the time calls - you've done 5 /10 mins now...... and I have learned roughly where I should be on my route to enable me to finish feeling as if I am pushing myself but not that I might not be able to walk the last 5mins.

I sometimes have to speed up or slow down if I'm not reasonably close to my markers.

Hope that makes sense. Happy running!

If you cannot speak aloud, clear ungasping sentences as you run, then you are going too fast for C25K.

Just take it slow and steady and then slow down a bit more and that should be fine. I also have Mapmyrun tell me my pace (I have it set for every km but you can set it to give you voice feedback more regularly, and I think you can do the same with other apps such as Strava and Runkeeper).
