I'm about to start W8. I'm amazed I've got so far! My problem is that my route is flat and then a gentle downhill followed by a steep uphill - but I have a real mental block about the uphill! So much so i actually run back the way I came for the last five minutes so that I don't have to tackle it!!!! Any tips to literally get over the hill?!?!?

I’m the same! I have a total mental block at the “climb” and just can’t get over it; any help would be really helpful too!!

Try taking shorter steps and lean forwards into the hill.

Hills are a great way to improve the strength in your legs.

I found this today, hills are hard. And I had to slow down to not much more than a walking pace to get up it (it was still a run, though 😅) . I found concentrating on something a little distance ahead helped- the next road sign, a parked car. It was so good to be at the top.

Shorten your stride, use your arms, breathe and take it as slow as you need!

I used to avoid hills in the same way until after graduation. Then I tried little steps & super SLOW! 😀 I just went as far up the hill as I could and walked the rest. Gradually I got a bit further as I practised. - You will too! 😄

I’ve just done a hill on my hols. All the info above is great. Slow and small steps.... yes you’re probably running at walking pace. What kept me going ? The thought that once I hit 12.5 mins, I’d turn round and it would all be downhill!
