Building up to first proper run

Went on a parkrun last Saturday. This was my first piece of exercise in almost a year and a half. Couch to 5k was suggested to me as an easy way to get back into exercise... But I've never really been into running. However I don't have to opportunity to go to the gym with my 9 month old baby.

I just need to push to get back out again. I'm still stiff and sore all over!

Hi natty1987 and welcome. I'm not surprised your sore if you did 5k first time out! If you follow the C25k 3 times a week plan, it's a much better way to ease you in over 9 weeks. Stick to the plan to avoid fatigue and injury. Good luck and enjoy your running

Hi Natty1987, I have always hated running but this seemed to be the only way to shoehorn regular exercise into my routine. It’s not been easy but I can honestly say that since week 4 I have looked forward to each run!

The program builds us up gradually to avoid injury and strains so it’s worth having a go. Good luck.

C25k is an amazing plan, follow it properly and you may find you do enjoy it, also completing a park run when you haven't exercised for over a year was far too much for your body and could have caused you in injury and that's why you're still aching . Good luck 😊
