Week 1, run 1 done!

Hi everyone,

Ive always been a very reluctant runner but I promised my daughter I’ll do a 5k with her in May, so I completed week 1, run 1 yesterday! I’ve had lots of little niggles over the years (knees, hips and shin splints) and I’ve always given up when I’ve been struggling with these in the past, so I’m wondering what’s the best way to gently keep going even if the niggles start up? Can’t let my 10 year old down!!

Thanks

Well done on starting the programme. Just make sure you always have a rest day between runs! You’ll be a runner before you know it!

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5... and if you follow the advice of staying very slow and reducing impact, then you should be fine.

Enjoy your journey.
