Annoying injury holding me back!

It's such a mild injury! A level 2 out of ten on pain scale. But if I try to jog even just gently it quickly goes to a level 4.

I think it is archilles tendonitis. When it is getting better it's just a dull ache at the back of my ankle. But as it flares up the pain rises up the back of my calf. This morning my ankle felt normal so I tried a couple of minutes gentle jog but nope, it flares up my calf.

I've been doing calf strengthening exercises the past week. How long before I can run again!!! Very frustrating! I miss my running so much!

There has never been any swelling or redness. I don't think seeing a gp will result in any info I don't already know from online....😐

Maybe you can self-refer to a physio for advice ? Hope it’s better soon x

Listen to your body.

The Achilles has relatively poor blood flow, so recovery can take some time and patience is the key. If it persists get a professional medical diagnosis.

This is the NHS Sports injuries page nhs.uk/conditions/sports-in... and may be a good place to start.

Thanks for the link! I'm currently getting no pain or sensation of injury unless I try to run or brisk walk over 40 mins. So I guess it's slowly getting better.

I was wondering... When I first started C25K I got shin splints and brought some over pronation insoles back in Oct/Nov. Do you think these wear out and need replacing? Could them stopping working be causing this new issue??

I have never used insoles and don't know how long they last.

Have you tried eccentric heel drops? They work well for Achilles stretching.

I just found this in my bookmarks nuffieldhealth.com/conditio... may be useful.
