Breast Cysts?

I competed c25k about 2 months ago and around 4 weeks ago Found a lump in my breast which (panic over) is a cyst. Could be compete coincidence as I’m 37 and approaching the age these commonly occur in women, all be it a bit young.

However, my husband thinks it’s related as before c25k I’d never done much in the way of vigorous exercise and I wasn’t wearing the best sports bra in town. I did get pain when running sometimes but just put that down to the usual pain I get in that area cyclically.

Has anyone any experience of this? Internet search not revealing much. I have now bought a better sports bra!

As we are not medics you are better advised to speak with your GP if you have concerns.

A good sports bra is essential for female runners.

Hi jfoo,

I am not a dr but I do have a lot of personal experience of breast cysts and have had many over the last few years.

They are very common although I don't know of any connection with vigorous exercise or wearing an inadequate sports bra whilst running.

I have done a fair amount of research on them and have not heard of such a connection.

As always, your GP will be the best one to ask for advice or the breast clinic that you may have been seen at.

Hope this helps.

All I can say is that I had cysts twice before I started running. I’m it’s just coincidence. A good idea to get a sports bra though.

Thanks everyone, i did ask my radiologist but he knew of no connection. Have sports bra, will run! 👋💪🏻
