Dilemma - week 9 hip problem.

Did W9R1 on Saturday but it was really hard. Right thigh ached throughout and had to pull up at one point due to sharp pain in right hip. Managed to start running again after a minute but hips have been very stiff and achy ever since. Should be going out for R2 tonight but worried about doing some real damage. Should I rest for a few days or try to push through? I’m 59 and haven’t run since school - only managing 3k in 30 mins.

If pain is significant enough to stop you running, then you need to learn to listen to your body and stop.

Rest until your hip feels good again and if it persists consult your GP or a physio.

Take care.

Definitely give yourself time to rest. I had exactly the same thing happen with me on that exact run. I went to see a physio as it really was very painful and impossible to run. After a week i went back out and finished C25K! It also doesn't matter your speed, you're doing it and that's all that counts. Well done!!!

Thank you both - just taking it easy for a few days and hip seems to be improving. Taking running shoes on holiday with me and might get the program finished in the sun.

Sounds a prefect plan. Happy holiday
