So I did R1W5 today, by th end of the first 5 min I was ready to give up, by the end of the last 5 mins I felt I could have carried on for another 5 mins. I've noticed before that the starts of a run feels tough but by the end I'm realy into it and don't want to stop.
I'm wondering whether I should walk for 10 mins before running to warm up or if there is some better way to warm up before heading out.

There's a relevant post on here which I'm sure someone will find for you. It's to do with why the first five minutes are usually the worst. It'll explain what's going in "inside you" and how to help yourself. I'd find it for you if I knew where to look!
If you look in the FAQ POSTS which are in the Pinned Posts column on the right hand side, you will find a post about the Toxic ten.............those first few minutes during which your body has not worked out the demands being made of it.
Check out the link from IannodaTruffe ... lots of helpful stuff there.. also,, if you want to do a longer brisk warm up wall then do it..I do
You can, as you head out...donkey kicks... arm pumping.. controlled punching...shoulder rolling... and windmill arms... Yep...my neighbours in the village are entertained,,, ( those who are up when I am heading out...
