Week 7 - proving difficult

Completed week 6 with no problems and enjoyed R3, but starting week 7 I’ve done the first two runs (well R1 twice) and had to bail out both times.

Not sure what is happening but I get about 12-15 minutes in and my outer shins (particularly my left) just feels like it becomes one solid mass - ie some sort of cramp. Rest, stretch and walk for a few minutes and it goes away.

So frustrating as I’ve had no other troubles that I had when first attempting C25K (they occurred on W7 too).

Anyhow will rest and see what tomorrow brings.

Too bad. Hard to say what's causing it but the usual suspects would be hydration, needing more rest (an extra day between runs), or the need to stretch more and do some leg strengthening exercises.

In your situation though, I wouldn't bail. If you have to stop, pause the app/podcast, do the stretches you need then restart, carry on, complete the run and move on.

A lot of runners deliberately run intervals with walk breaks, because it's less tiring, so there's absolutely no shame in stopping and continuing and it isn't cheating! Good luck, I'm sure it will pass.
