Brand new to C25k - not actually started yet. Background I am 68 recently retired and looking to get fitter. Started in Early June with adjusting diet - not dieting just being very careful with what I eat and watching my weight in a daily basis. Good news lost 31 lbs to date. Also started to do daily walks originally aiming at 10k steps per day now regularly doing 5 miles at sub 18min miles before breakfast each morning - so 20k steps is not a problem actually doing 15k per day. My problem is running. I am planning to start C25K at the end of this month but am worried about ankle and knee joint problems. Any comments welcomed

The hardest thing is going out and doing the first run Bloodhound. By posting here you will receive some good advice from an administrator or mentor. There have been many people here of all shapes, size and age and the way the programme works it takes you safely to running 30 minutes. You will get aches as your body gets used to being used. I think the oldest person to graduate was 83! My main advice is to take it slowly and come back here to let everyone know how things are going. Good luck on your journey.

Good news on the health front so far. Walking is ace 👍. Watching what you eat ditto 😃

You only need to go slowly so there should be no probs with joints The main issue with joints is from being too heavy I had joint pain but giving up alcohol and fruit juice has made it much better

You only do the sessions slowly and carefully. Do read the notes as they explain all

Good luck

You've done really well to lose so much weight in 3 months. I took up C25K to help speed up my weight loss but have only lost half as much as you.

As others have said, you will feel your body adjusting to running but the secret is to go slow setting your pace to ensure you could keep up a conversation without huffing and puffing. Experiment with taking 2 rest days between runs to give your body time to recover. And good luck!

Good running shoes will be a good start and take it slowly..also I would say never ignore pain..the body is telling you something.

Advice I ought to be following myself come to think about it🎃
