Having felt relatively comfortable with my W6R3 last Thursday, I found that the timed runs were holding me back to some extent, so today I set the gym treadmill on the 5k programme and started running but still following the couch25k W7R1 run. When I got to the 25minute mark, I kept running and managed to complete the 5k in 41 minutes. I remember back in mid-August this year before starting the programme, I could hardly string together a continuous run of 2 minutes, so I was ecstatic when I managed to complete the 5k today. I hope to be able to carry on with 5k runs from now on with improved times. The lesson for me throughout this programme is getting your mind to believe that you can do it and the rest seems to follow. However, the progressive nature of the couch25k programme has been absolutely fundamental in getting me to this point.

Go carefully with yourself. Those small increases are made so the muscles and joints can adjust over the three weeks and nine runs. There is a protective reason why we don’t go from 1-7 weeks. I’m glad you have found your running feet. Rfc x.
