Hi Alex2046 the best way to lose weight is a combined healthy eating program and exercise regime. By putting in less fuel and burning more, you should lose weight. That’s it in simple terms, but in reality you also have to be careful what you eat. I cut out carbs like potatoes, bread, pasta and rice and you can get away with it in the early part of the program. By the end of it though you will need carbs reintroduced as they are more easily converted into the fuel you need. One reason we gain weight is when we load up the carbs but don’t burn them off with exercise. Whatever your aims, you will definitely get fitter and with that want to eat more healthily. I can vouch for it I am about to graduate C25K, I started two stones overweight- my shape has changed and I feel ten years younger and happier. I’m 58 and hadn’t run in thirty years. You can definitely do this it’s a great program.

This plan does work. I went in a few belt notches and also lost weight. My health improved greatly overall. But exactly as has been said, you won’t lose weight by running alone. You have to watch what you eat. Exercise more and eat less. That’s all there is to it. But in reality it’s really hard, but you can do it. Personally when I am running I eat healthy food as I don’t want to undo all the hard work.

Certainly helps weight loss. I've lost at least 10kilos...but I was doing Slimming World too.

But it's not only weight loss. You gain fitness, you gain lots of self confidence too. You start to feel healthy. It's a great way to unwind from the stresses of every day living.

It becomes a new way of life. It's fun, and I think you also start to feel happier about yourself too. Enjoy running, it's addictive 😎🌻

The basic rules of losing weight are simple: eat less, eat better, move more. I’m finding C25k is really helping me because it’s so easy to get advice and encouragement here. It can’t hurt to try ! Hope you enjoy it once you’re in 🙂

This program isn't just about losing weight (although that's very possible), it's about training your body and mind to enjoy exercising and to build up your fitness. It has also really helped with anxiety for me, too. I have 30-45 minutes 3 or 4 times a week where I can focus on just putting one foot in front of the other. I honestly don't think about anything else whilst I'm running and I love it! It helps me relax and I sleep so well after I have been running.

C25K will make you think more about other unhealthy choices you make. When you put effort into exercising and burning calories it really does make you think twice before overeating. Give it a try and see how you get on. Don't expect it to be easy though, the first few weeks especially are tough going and it can be hard to stick with it. Just focus on the goal of losing weight and getting active! Good luck!

As this is a running forum, it is not a weight loss programme and you may or may not lose weight...( I put weight on...which was good for me).. Just link it with a really healthy eating plan and you may do so...:)

Please check this out ... this post for Newbies has a lot of helpful advice, including a section on healthy eating for your running.

Welcome to the forum.

Everything you need to know to get started is in this guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Starting to run will improve your physical and mental health and if you are currently inactive it will reduce your statistical likelihood of suffering from a vast range of life limiting conditions and put you in a good physical state to fight any illness that may strike in the future.

Apart from all that, it will make you smile.

Enjoy your journey.

Eating/drinking right and exercising can only have one outcome. A successful one 💪👍😃

Get the eats and drinks sorted out and just keep moving. C25k is a life changer if you do it 😃👍💪

Hello Alex. This forum runs alongside the the couch to 5k running programme and can answer any questions or concerns you may have and allow you contact with others doing the same thing. The c25k is an excellent programme to introduce you to running and it’s set up so that you can start from complete novice to running 30 minutes in a safe way. Many have found that it’s boosted their confidence, improved their mental health as well as improving their fitness. Weight loss is not obvious until you start running longer distances but if you measure yourself before starting you will see that you become toned and lose inches. You will also find you want to eat healthier foods to enable you to run better so that can help you lose weight. Give it a go and you won’t regret it and let everyone know how you are doing.
