Didn't enjoy that

I've had a couple of days off due to work/life etc. And just completed W6R2 and I didn't enjoy it one bit. Breathing was fine legs were ok but it just seemed like a hard slog. Roll on R3 ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€

Donโ€™t worry. Sometimes people do w5r3 and find it surprisingly okay, then they find w6 runs 1 & 2 tougher. If I remember right (thatโ€™s a big โ€˜ifโ€™) then you have just done the last run with walk breaks. You might find it better without the walk breaks. Good luck, youโ€™re gonna be great!

Thanks. I think it's all in the mind now. That constant nagging doubt that any second Laura is gonna tell me to stop and walk. I'm in the Frame of mind now to run and not think about anything else but running for 30 minutes.

Spot on Pete, It's all in the mind now. When you know that, you're sorted.

When I went through the programme and got to W6R3 and beyond I ditched the app completely and just used my HRM to monitor time. Plugged my music in and just ran. Other people need the app for the encouragement of trusty Laura in their ear.

Pick the thing that works best for you and you're gonna nail this :-)

That's a great piece of advice. I think using the app could potentially have a negative effect as you are just willing Laura (or whoever) to whisper in your ear that you only have 10 minutes 5 minutes etc to go. W6R3 tomorrow so I think after that it's just me and mapmyrun. Thank you Laura but I'm ditching you๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

I didnt like W6R1-2 AT ALL. it is way better when you run continuously. You start to feel like a runner!!!

Ps.And i ditched laura too cos of the awful music. I listen to comedy now and laugh a lot without realising i'm running on!! Entering W8...

Good luck!

Just completed R3 of W6 and it was great. 25 minutes continuous running no problems. Legs felt good, breathing ok. Maybe I'm jumping the gun but I'm tempted to just run 30 minutes 3 times a week now. Surely 5 minutes can't make that much difference. Or am I being a smart ass?????

Omg i am exactly like you!!! Ahaha but still. Better stick to the programme more or LESS. I ran a little longer cos of the podcast but will try and wait for the ACTUAL week of 30. To FEEL the accomplishment. And there is a sense of building stamina in stages. It is a well planned programme.

Having said that i can see no harm in 5 extra minutes if you really really want too. But then you.will not have something to yearn ๐Ÿ˜˜

I left some energy in reserve this morning and increased the pace for the final minute. I think you're right in completing the program as it should be done. But no harm in putting in a little bit extra every now and then ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

That's exactly right.

I will try that too. Not sure how much special energy i will have left at the end but i'll try. I am heading out on my W8R1 this afternoon.

In the last 3 weeks you run half the total running time of the 9 week programme. So youโ€™re only half way through with 9 runs to go in weeks 7-9. This is where the cumulative stress of 3x a week longer runs can start aches and pains, if youโ€™ve not had them already. The programme builds on the 10% per week rule of increased duration that is tried and tested. Plenty of longer running awaits you once you graduate ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘

My aches and pains have been many when I first began the process. They are also well documented on this forum ๐Ÿ˜Š. Achilles, calf muscles to name a couple. This is the fourth time I have begun the program and I'm amazed I have got this far. I agree it would be foolish to stray away it now and risk further and more long lasting injury. I promise I will complete it as intended.

Week 6 has been a bogey one for me but just completed my 25 minute run!! It's just a week to battle through and put behind you I think. Keep going ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ™‚
