Thanks to all the encouragement I got in the answers to last post I did a very cautious run on treadmill earlier this morning. I was very worried that I would trigger my back problem off again.. after it shouted at me very loud to stop after 22 mins running on treadmill last week. I've had a difficult week at work as I couldn't sit for any length of time. Anyway decided I would try a short run today so did what I think should be a week 6.. two 8 minutes with a walk in middle..and I managed it..back still feeling an hour on so this is a good sign. I'm now weeks off target...At the moment I don't know if I will get to 30 mins running..maybe my back doesn't want to run for that long..but the way I view this is that if I can keep doing 20 minutes 3 times a week it's a bloody lot more exercise than I've done in years so I am happy...bit I would really like to get to graduate🙃🙃
What I can say is that my back usually takes a lot longer to ease..last bout took 6 months ..which was before I started C25K....

It’s good to hear that the run seems to have gone OK. I have had back problems for as long as I can remember. It’s debilitating and mentally exhausting. I feel for you. You’ve probably had physio and exercises recommended for relieving the pain and the stretches really help! Two things, for me, have made all the difference. One is losing weight and the other is core strengthening. Especially core strengthening. If you haven’t tried it, it’s worth a go and will definitely improve your overall running. 5 minutes a day is all you need. Good luck and well done on getting back to it 👍
Yep..been to physio...had a petite games misstressy bossy one...took me right back to my all girl convent games hating school days....was very helpful and effective..audit was all about the core ( trying to find one in my case)
Unfortunately I have dodgy discs..no cure really...
I am running g on treadmill..deliberate decision as there is less impact ...but I do want to run outdoors...
Pleased to say that my back hasn't complained today..but I'm going to have to be sensible..
