Oh my! After completing the training I thought I was ready for a 5k and entered Race for Life in Chelmsford. Well, all I can say is it was a boiling hot day (28 degrees) and the heat absolutely defeated me. I completed the course, but had to walk so much of it 🙁 Even fast walking was a real effort and my legs didn’t want to lift off the ground. Still, much needed money was raised for Cancer Research UK, a very worthy cause.
I find it very disappointing that Cancer Research tells people to avoid to peak sunshine hours, yet always holds their races at 11:00 in the blazing heat. Hmm

Yes it is frustrating that all of the big races seem to start late. 9am is late enough in the summer.
Well done though! You did it. Have you tried a ParkRun? They’re a great way to develop the 5k race and you can run/walk to start as there is always someone walking and a tail walker to mop everyone up 👌🏽
