I’ve been running for a couple of years now but due but have been struggling lately and not running very much, i class myself as a slow plodder rather that a runner, I struggle with running as get a lot of pain in my shins and calf’s, part of me really wanted to admit defeat and give up running as I’m not really built for running. ( trying to lose weight) but I’m due to run a 10 mile race in October and I’m meant to be running for mind so I didn’t want to let them down so yesterday I downloaded the c25k app and completed the first session. I will do this but I’m going to need all the support and encouragement I can get , I’m good at starting things not always good at finishing them, when I come to compete in my race I’m not concerned about time I just want to finish my saying is finish line not finish time.
First session smashed : I’ve been running for a... - Couch to 5K

Well done for starting C25K and for posting here. Stick with the plan, follow your coach and you'll enjoy it. I always hated running previously but I've found that running around a field works better for me than going cycling. Keep us updated on your progress.
As Flyingred says you have taken some important steps, downloading C25k, having your first run and posting on here, keep it up!
Don’t expect too much too soon in terms of weight loss just by doing the programme, most people report increased tone, better body shape by losing inches, but not much (if any) weight in the early days, it will help if you combine the plan with eating more healthily. The other major benefit I found was an improvement in mental resilience that certainly helped me to finish the programme and keep going.
Have you had a gait analysis? Might be a good idea if you have pain a lot.
Good luck and well done on starting 👌🏽
