Nearly there! 4km in 30 mins- I am a little disheartened that it was not a full 5k. BUT 8 weeks ago each 60 second interval felt never ending. Now I long for Sarah Millican to chime in with a 60 second warning- it means "not long to go" and more importantly, "ive run for a long time".
I've had persistent calf and back pain to work through and 2 weeks off as a result. But it is worth the perseverance (and the promise of a holiday at the end).
Top tips
- don't tie shoes too tight- that wad causing some of the pain. You should be able to pull them on without undoing the laces.
- a new piece of gear really helps!
- Strava gives you great motivation to keep going and improving, it's also great for reflecting on progress.
- mix up the route, if I have markers it puts me off my run, particularly if I'm slower than I was the last time.
- a deep breath really does help realign posture- great if you're back is starting to ache.
Fingers crossed I can make 5k in the next 2 runs! 🤞
