I just did day one week one I'm shockingly bad but never mind. When I finished and got indoors I suddenly felt very emotional and cried a bit. Has anyone else experienced this?

100% been like this. It’s all the endorphins that come from running and don’t worry you still went out and did a run which isn’t bad at all! You will definitely improve so don’t be so hard on yourself x

Awww yes there's quite a few of us on here! The sense of achievement and for some, the underlying reasons related to where we've been in life, where we are now and the journey we're starting - amongst other things can get those emotions going! Welcome aboard and well done for starting 😊😊

I’ve cried quite a few times! It’s such an amazing feeling of achievement for us all, and I for one feel very proud!

Let’s all keep running! ❤️🏃‍♀️👍🏻😀

Oh definitely Lilystar! I have been welling up while I’m running a few times too, because I can’t believe that it’s me doing this. There’s no such thing as bad! You’re at the beginning. We’ve all been there at the beginning. You’ve done it and I hope you will be proud of every single moment of the experiences to come. Keep going! ❤️

Definitely, run three of week 5 and of course, your graduation run are the most emotional runs of C25K, I was so relieved to have completed both of them.

Yes. When I completed the early lomg runs. It's the sense of achievement I think. But I cry at all sorts of stuff!! 😂😂

Yup. Cried again a little while ago when they had Laura on the radio and played a bit of the Week 1 podcast music.

Running changes your brain chemistry and heightens senses and emotions, generally for the better.

Check out this guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... which is full of tips.

Enjoy your journey.

Yes! I was prepared to feel completely knackered and for bits of me to hurt that I didn't know existed. I was prepared to hate running, which I did for a little while at least. I was not prepared for the rush of emotions I felt having completed the first session, me, who had never run before since school PE.

For me that was less than a year ago, and today I graduated from Bridge to 10k. I'm not saying that to take away from what you've acheived, just to show that anything is possible. Someone once said what's the best way to eat an elephant? One small mouthful at a time. Running is like that. After week 1 I couldn't even contemplate how on earth I'd do week 2 or 3. But bit by bit, your fitness will grow, I can guarantee that weeks 5 and 6 will be really special, and you'll realise just how far you've come. And week 9 of course!!

Don't look too far ahead, and remember to try and enjoy it. If you are out of breath, slow down, it's not about distance or speed, just time running.

All the best,

Neil :)

I think it's knowing you've done something. Taken those first steps for a fitter, healthier you!! It's an emotional thing - well done. You're not shockingly bad - no such thing. You're doing it!!

Yes!!! Cried so much after a lot of my early runs. I remember crying into the wind and rain at the end of week 2 and wondering what the hell had come over me. Totally out of character! It doesn’t happen now. I wish it did somehow. It was weird but I’m glad it wasn’t just me!!!

Tears of sadness, turn to tears of joy. Just you wait and see, the later tears, usually accompanied by fist pumps, as each week progresses. Go Lilystar. 😊
