It’s been a week since I graduated, so I think a quick update is in order.
My first graduate run was a parkrun last Saturday. Still really tough to keep going, though I didn’t notice the urge so much to stop running, but I have to admit I enjoyed the experience.
So, what next, I’ve achieved my initial goal?
I decided to move on to c25k+ podcasts.
First up was the Stepping Stones pod cast. Decided it was time for me to go the local park. I’d been avoiding it even though it sits on a relatively small hill. The podcast is a little odd like everyone says but I enjoyed it, even the music wasn’t too bad.
But I learnt from it. I’ve finally figured out what conversational pace is. The final pace 160? was more like the pace I was used to. Don’t think I’ll be going back to this pod cast but glad I did it. Did I enjoy that run? Hmmmm.
Somethings wrong, I haven’t felt like this since I started c25k. I’m starting to really look forward to my next run. Today it was the interval training pod cast. 150 is too slow for me and difficult but I realise I’m going to need it. 165 is fast and I can feel its pushing me hard. When its finished I feel I could do a few more, so maybe I’ll stretch my legs a little more next time. Time for a quick swim in the sea before heading back to work.
It’s taken a while but I’m starting to realise I’m enjoying this running thing now. Only took 10 weeks. I just hope I still feel this way after my next run. Something I’m really looking forward to!
I though I needed motivation but if I can enjoy it so much better.
New targets are now set. 1. Work up to a 10k run. 2. See if I can hang on to the back of that 25 at the parkrun on the 14th. Just being able to see them cross the line from a distance will be good enough, then we’ll see….
