I am on W8 R3 and wondering if pace or distance is more important. I am not at the 10 minute mile pace yet. I can complete the 2.75 miles, just not in 28 minutes. Currently I jog it in 36 minutes. What are some suggestions on gaining speed. I am almost 54 and have not run since college. My goal is to be able to jog the turkey trot in November of this year.

Neither, the only important thing at this pint is endurance I.e. time, go as slow as necessary to ensure you keep running for the prescribed time

As Berksrover says the only thing to think about at the moment, until graduation and a few weeks beyond, is to run continuously for 30 mins.
