I'm not a treadmill user, tho lots of folk here are. A Fitbit would count steps (and I'm sure there are free apps that would do similar.

The other tools and apps that people tend to use (Strava, etc.) all rely on GPS to monitor your distance. Clearly that's not going to work on a treadmill since it will think you're stationary.

Worth thinking about whether you're going to be running outside at some point. Don't want you buying some expensive tech that won't work for indoor and outdoor running.

I'm sure someone knowledgeable will pop up in a while tho. :-)

...and it happened to be me 😁 Another technophobe and non-treadmill user

My iPhone has something on it called “ ihealth” which counts steps and kms etc It works anywhere maybe an android phone has similar

Samsungs come with something called "Samsung Health" (so inventive). That does basic step counts and the like.

hello, hello, I was curious so I looked it up and you can use your phone to count your steps. These things apparently are better on newer phones due to some clever hardware that's more recent. If you have an Android, at least Google fit (possibly others, I don't know) will count your steps using the accelerometer on your phone, not GPS, so if you are happy to run holding/wearing your phone it'll work! iHealth on the iPhones should work the same way (but when I look it up I found people complaining it's not accurate!)

Not what you're looking for?
