Very hard W7 R1

Just finished the first run of week 7 and found it hard. I feel slightly disappointed as I was finding it easier in week 6. Maybe it was the heat, running in 27 degrees is fairly challenging, maybe it was running with my 14 year old son who is just too fast! I thought I’d be finding it a bit easier by now. Has anyone else experienced this? 😢

W7R1 was my hardest run - I had to repeat it as I just couldn’t complete it. You did really well to run at all in this heat! I went on to really enjoy W8 but we won’t mention W9...

The way I see it, it shouldn't really be getting easier, because the programme is designed to build progress on each run - but one day, you'll run for 25 minutes and it'll be straightforward. Think about how it felt to run for 60 seconds at a time - I remember being genuinely afraid that the step up to 90 seconds would be too much!

Also the heat is definitely going to be a factor! And even though you did 25 minutes in W6R3, you've still gone straight to another 25 minutes the very next run - until now you've not done that much in such quick succession (i.e. W6R1 was back to intervals after the 20 minutes in W5R3) But still, you did it - well done!

From memory week 7 is 25mins?? It is hard going as you need to get your pace right and not start too fast. Week 7/8 will start to teach you that. Plus no more walking breaks. Also the heat is a massive factor. Only run when it’s cooler.

Well done! 😊
