I completed week 4 on Saturday but found the five min runs really tough-is this normal?? Wondering if I should repeat that week again this week? Any advice?

W4
Morning Matron - yes any increase in running time can be tough. I don’t think you need to repeat it if you kept running for the five mins. I had to repeat W7R1 as I just could not keep running, but found all of W8 easier! The gradual increases do help to build stamina but some runs are just harder than others in my experience. Well done on completing W4 & good luck for W5. 🙂
Don't repeat a run if you've done it, even if it was hard. Your legs and your brain will have learned the lesson. Keep moving on. Slow it down a bit (or a lot) if you need to, but just keep on trucking. Let us know how you got on with W5R1 tho. You'll nail this!! xx
Hi Stephen, I am about to take my son in law and my daughter out for a meal to celebrate his birthday, so I was not sure what run to do this morning as I was a bit pressed for time, remember Monday, Wednesday and Saturdays are my running days, long 30 min runs on a Wednesday and Saturday, I have decided to go for a shorter run on the Mondays. All I did this morning in my local park was W1 runs, a bit strange doing that, 7-minute runs and 6x 90 seconds walks, anyway back to Wednesday and it will be a full 30-minute run, lovely warm day here where I live, temp to go to 25c.
It'll be interval training next...
Have a great day!!
Yes, I have had a great day Stephen, I have just come back from Stirling by the castle near the highlands where I celebrated with my daughter my son in laws birthday by having a slap-up delicious meal, shade temp now 80f in the garden, glad I did my run this morning, would not like to run in that temperature.
Hi, I really struggled with W4 and posted on here for advice on whether I should do it again. The advice was if you’ve done it then move on. So I did and ‘enjoyed’ W5 much more. The programme is all about building up your stamina gradually, finding your pace (slow!) sorting out your breathing. The only major change was I switched to very early mornings (5ish) to avoid the heat which suited me and it really is a beautiful time of day. Good luck with whatever you decide xx
