Could use some advice (and a new leg perhaps)

Should have done W6R2 yesterday, but decided against it.

My left leg has been playing up: starting to feel like shin splits and I think a slightly pulled quad. I’ve done my last run on Saturday. I already wear compression socks (during my runs).

What’s the best treatment?

Hi Tjar! Do you mean shin splints or do you have a split chin? I will assume the former.

I’m no doctor so the proper advice is to see a medical professional. However my advice would be first to rest up until the quad feels better.

I can’t help with shin splints. I got them many years ago and they would not go away so I gave up running. I have learned they can be caused by over striding. Make sure your feet land on the ground underneath you and not in front of you. Lastly, drop the pace to just above a walk. Week 6 means your bone strengthening may only be up to week 2 and your muscles week 4. I’ve gone from running 6min km on my runs to over 8 min km mainly to protect myself from injury.

I mean the former 😂 (‘twas an early day yesterday, wil adjust post).

Thank you for your advice. Saw a physio yesterday. She adviced on taking rest day and cooling it as much as I can, when it’s swollen and warm (which thankfully it isn’t yet).

In my case (not swollen and warm), I should apply warmth (tiger balm, hot water bottle) and do stretches. Also do rowing as a form of exercise.

So, off to the rowing machine I am. Might still take a few days off, because of a crazy busy schedule until the weekend.
