I resting something like almost a week between runs and thought should really do one now, despite my husband's advice. OMG. My legs are so tired - I climbed the York minster tower yesterday - bad move in hind sight - and did my W7R1 this morning. Ouch. Keep having to slow down asbouthe legs and breathing are all over the place. What didn't help is that I'm so blocked up with hayfever. I think I'm going to take it easy for a few days. Oh, wait on a happy note ... see sweet picture here

Well done for running on top of all that exercise yesterday!

It takes most new runners a surprisingly long time to realise that they can't just tack on an exercise regime to their lives and expect everything to be hunky dory.

Climbing a tower, or a mountain, the day before a run, is going to affect your running performance. Likewise a run one day is going to impact on your effectiveness doing further exercise the following day. The same goes for diet, hydration, sleep, general rest and of course illnesses and allergies, such as hayfever (I am a fellow sufferer).

Ultimately you will find climbing the tower easier, as a consequence of your running, but our bodies need progressive overload, not overload.

Well done.
