Really ignorant question, I’m new to this fitness game! I’m now on W4R2. The last few runs I have been really shivery cold for an hour or two after running. Just can’t warm up. What does this mean? Is it normal? What do you do to prevent?

Shivers
I’ve not experienced this. When you stop running are you very hot? Sweaty?? And by the time you’ve finished the warm down walk?
Are you refuelling post run?
It could be dehydration and hunger
I believe it’s through a loss of heat after sweating. You just need to get dry and warm and have something warm to drink if that helps. I get it sometimes but after I’ve showered. Doesn’t last too long. Worse when it’s colder weather. Hope that helps.
I always suffer a drop in temp shortly after a workout, doesn't matter if it's a run or a class. I always have a fleece zipper to throw on as soon as I feel it coming on. Then a cuppa before my meal and this combo works well. Equally a hot shower works so I may fit that in before eating of there's time, after if not. If I time it right it's great getting out to a nice meal! 😊
Thanks, will follow everyone Jes advice and get myself warmed up with a shower and wake drink after a run in future. Sounds like a snack too is helpful. It’s a learning journey!
I'm sure I've seen this asked once or twice, it seems uncommon, but not unheard of. Try the search function - I found this old thread healthunlocked.com/couchto5... which could at least make you not feel alone!
Thanks lots
no problem, it must be a bit concerning! I'd also vote for having a warm drink soon after your run if not a meal, too (post-run meals are so satisfying, I find!). Hope you feel alright to continue with the programme!
Defo feel positive about the programme and feel great after a run. Wasn’t overly worried but didn’t know what I was doing wrong or not doing that I needed to build into my plan to prevent the chills. Thanks so much for your advice
I have this most times after my run.. I find having a cuppa then shower does the trick.
Ok, so ToryJa , read the old posts and links that icklegui kindly linked in and so while there's lots of very interesting info on core temperature, the most important thing missed in the comments above was a reference to chocolate. Apparently it helps and we're missing a trick. A square of bournville is about to be added to my routine!! Did I say square, I probably should come clean and say bar...😆🍫
Yep just read those links and saw the bit about chocolate. Bloody brilliant 👍😂 it’s now in my plan too 😂
