For 5 weeks I’ve been using a running app called Couch to 5K. The program cumulates in week 9 run 3 to a 5K run at your own pace. This week, week 5 there are three different runs each run a little bit harder, a little bit longer. This morning I ran for 16 minutes. Remember five weeks ago I ran for a minute. On Friday I will be running for a full 20 minutes an increase of 4 minutes. What I’ve learned over the past weeks is to pace yourself don’t go like a ‘dog at hot broth’ as we say up north. Running is a physical sport, but it is also psychological. The mental battle is to forget all the negative thoughts that your mind will throw at you. Concentrate on the positive ones, such as this running program has been specially designed for non runners and learn to trust the program. C25K runners have a app a bit like Facebook only it is specific to C25K. Members (I’m one) offer support and advice to other C25K runners who are about to start a week that other members have completed. Week 5 is the one that most members need help and support with ( including me) because of that 20 minute run. From now until Friday ( yes I will be getting up at 4.30) my focus will be on that milestone. I need to ‘carb up, I need to have a positive mental attitude. #letsdothisC25K

Don't worry about week 5's third run, I did feel a bit nervous but after I ran it in 20 minutes I felt fine and very happy, good luck.

Well done on your progress. The OneYou app we follow cumulates in running for 30 mins, three times. Distance doesn’t matter, it can come later in your running journey. Only a small percentage of graduates cover 5 k in those 30 mins.

Take it one run at a time Running59, and enjoy it all, you are doing great! 🏃🏻

Well done! Though W6R1 is infamous for being one of the trickiest runs.

You’ll be inspiring your Facebook friends! 💪🏽

Thanks for all your support the big run on Friday (week 5 run 3) has me absolutely bricking it. I’m getting up at 4.30 am to do it because it will be cooler and before my 7.30 start for work.
