C25K completed and now heading to my first Duathalon

So I started C25K 9 weeks ago.

I used to be fit, but my with work and married life I had piled on a few extra pounds.

Work had been very stressful and I was low in mood. My wife suggested doing a triathalon with a friend in the middle of may and I love a goal and challenge BUT- I hate swimming, have a dodgy knee(from university rugby) and my right elbow wont extend fully due to a cycling accident.

All this aside I signed up to C25K with 13 weeks to train for the race (4 weeks to go).

The first 4 weeks I stuck religiously to C25K and then I did a park run. I was amazed to complete it in 30 minutes and have now cut that down to under 24 minutes.

I've loved using C25K, Strava and have bought a Garmin watch to save me carrying my phone now.

I'm now running most mornings 4-5K and 2 days a week I do Run/Cycle/Run in prep for the duathalon. its often hard to get out of bed and complete the run. but its definitely helping my fitness, marriage and mental health.

Thanks NHS C25K team.

Hopefully in 4 weeks I will upload some photos of me crossing the line 2.5km run 20km cycle, 6km run.

Big Love Dave

Good luck. I am so glad you have found your feet and a new love. Looking forward to seeing the pictures. Remember what we said about going further after your event, give yourself a bit of time of consolidation after all you have done, well done.
