Sneaked a 5km parkrun in at wk7 pre graduation.

I did my first park run today . Continuously ran for 38 minutes . First time I’ve managed 5k in 6 years and it’s 2 weeks early but I’m actually disappointed that I didn’t do it quicker. I’m nearly 50 and 30lbs heavier than I should be but I still wanted to get as close to 35mins as I could. It was a flat course and the graduation one is not as flat. I’m just hoping I will improve a bit more in 2 weeks. Any tips?

Slow pace don't worry about time. Give course ago before

Slow works... and keeps us injury free...hopefully.

Well... slow down... I know it sounds odd.... but...the Wk 7 runs are 25 mins... that's it... and they are part of this structured plan which is intended to move you forward and keep you injury free.

We do advise folk to stick to the plan and use the Park Run, if they decide to try it) , for the run they are doing.. i.e. For you, start with a five minute walk.. do the 25 mins and then the cool down.

You may feel fine and strong enough to do it, but as IannodaTruffe has explained many times... hidden damage may occur and our running muscles are still building up.

Time for building up the speed can come after Graduation... each run makes you stronger, so just move on safely ?

Well done on finishing the run anyway :)
