Wk7 done and I was a little naughty 👹

Well this morning (23/03/18) I completed another week. I like to do at least one run a week outside as that is where I started the program before joining a gym. So with a spring in my step I put my running shorts on and some old trainers I use for outside and set off for my run. I’ve found over the weeks I’m much better running in the morning on a empty stomach. So with my tunes blasting in my ear the lovely Laura tells me it time to run. I find the 1st 5 mins are a killer and I think I’m never going to make this. But after that I’m grate and my breathing is settled and I carry on. I get to the half way point and turn back so I don’t have far too walk back. My MapMyFitness app tells me I have just run a mile in 13minutes. I get to the the 20 min mark and feel really fresh not Evan out of breath. Final 5 minutes fly and Laura tells me congrats you have run for 25 minutes. Well this is where the naughty me kicks In and decides I’m going to carry on running and that what I did for the whole 5 min warm down walk. So wk7r3 I managed a whole 30min run and I did not even feel tired. I know people will say stick to the program and all that. But I’m going to the gym 5 days out of 7 so maybe this is why I’m a head of the game 😉. Next week is a test I’m going to miss wk8 and jump to wk9 if I fail I will go back a week but I feel ready. And way thanks for reading. Ps I stoped the app after I had finished my run so I could see how far I had run hence it saying 37mins 😉

Well done biggydoug, rather than miss wk 8, why not go out for your wk 8 runs, and once you reach the 28 min see if you want to do an extra minute or so..

There is no hurry to push yourself on too quickly, better to establish a good base and see the program through properly. This is a tried and tested program and why risk an injury having got so far...

Once you complete the program and Graduate it is recommended that you do 30 minute runs for a few weeks while your legs get stronger...

Good luck😊x

Oh eck, don’t do it! Do the program as laid down. Being gung-ho will get you injured.

What’s the rush? It takes a while for running legs to get built

Slow running and the rest day builds running legs 💪🏃‍♂️👍

Take care 🙂

Hey biggydoug, it’s great that you are doing so well. 😃

... Here comes the but!... It is easy to think that it is fine to push on faster because our cardio and breathing develop ahead of our muscles, tendons etc. If you over push yourself you run a greater risk of sitting on the IC feeling very frustrated. Being able to run and a gradual buildup is so very much better than not being able to run at all! Enjoy next week! 😀

Do the programme as the replies say...missing runs is a no-no.. and yes, you may feel fine and ahead of the game... but hidden damage to these new legs is horrid and the IC is a horrid place to be too...!

This is a great journey.. what is the rush... get to the Graduation podium injury free:)
