Achy knees?

Graduated a month ago. Re-did week 9 c25k for a while and yesterday ran c25k+ podcast for the second time: really enjoyed it. But the last few runs my knees have been hurting after the runs. They are just aching . I do try and think of my posture and thightening gluteals and abdominals etc. Should I be concerned or it is just part of the process or stiffness which goes away? Does anyone take any supplements for joints ? Any advice greatly appreciated :-)

Which c25k+ one did you do. I have tried the stepping stones and the stamina ones so far. Both of these get you running quite a bit faster than normal if your normal is less than the bpm of these runs. I found I coped with this by taking more steps more quickly but my stride shortened. But if you are over striding maybe you are incurring more impact stress which is finding your weak point. Probably worth just running a standard 5k or the wk9r3 podcast at your normal speed to see if it still hurts.

I take the wellman supplements which include omega 3 fish oil.. not sure if that helps joints though. Cod liver oil capsules could help if you can stomach them.. I struggle.

I did the stepping stones podcast . Thank you for your advice . I will buy some cod liver oil . And then I have to remember to take it every day :-)

You could try these knee strengthening exercises nhs.uk/Livewell/c25k/Pages/... and any core strengthening will also be beneficial.

Thank you . I just tried out the knee strengthening exercises . My righth knee ached a little doing some of the exercises . They advice you to do them every day and one should see a difference after 2 week’s. Is it better to do them as a warm up or at the end of the run?
