Am I going too slow?

I am running at 8.6-9km/hr for 23 minutes regulary and then i jog for 7 minutes at 6.5 km/hr is it slow? And I run for about 4 kms 7 days a week is it slow? Thanks in advance for any help shown

You are definitely going too slow to get into an Olympic running team but doing just fine if you want to keep fit.

This forum is primarily for those undertaking the NHS Couch to 5k training plan for new runners. The plan is structured so that you always have at least one day's rest between runs. This is because when you run you create micro tears in your muscles, as a consequence of the impact. These tears repair and strengthen on your rest day, when you can do non impact exercise if you wish, but should avoid impact. As a new runner this is a very wise precaution to avoid overuse injury, however after many months ( a year is often stated) you can run consecutive days if you observe the rule that you never follow a hard run with a hard run.

Since you are not following the C25k plan it is not really within our scope to offer much further guidance.

If you are doing the C25K pace is not relevant. There is lots of research which shows that there is no such thing as "too slow "in terms of fitness and well-being.

It sounds like you are not currently doing the C25K. If you want to compare your pace with others and improve your own why not try some Park runs. 😄

I'm assuming you're not doing the C25K programme as you aren't having the essential rest days, but it might be worth picking up the programme at week 3 or 4 (or even earlier) and including the rest days and using your jog speed for the running intervals, with walking in between. That way you can build up to running 30 minutes (5km) at your jog speed.
