Well another week done and under the belt. It has been a tough 2 weeks fitting in running with home and builders arriving early - so glad that I can get back to a bit of normality.
Decided this week to just do some free runs with music and me. No Stepping Stones just running at my own pace. No records for land speed record coming from my direction!
I mapped out a route around town so that if I needed to do an evening run I could do it under street lights, fortunately I was able to complete my 3 runs after a little jiggling around with the days in the mornings and in daylight.
Today I took the day off and set off running a bit later than usual. It was bin day and the first part of my run takes me down a road of terraced housing with all the bins out for collection it’s was a bit like an obstacle course. I think the collection had already been done and they had rearranged the bins that way especially for me!
The canal route came upon me and I trudged along. The frosty ground actually seemed to help the uneven ground give a little more of a sure footing but the morning sun was blinding. I had considered running in the opposite direction but I have gotten used to the route and did not fancy finishing my run with the hill climb that is a lovely descent at the start!
On the first part of the run I found myself picking my legs up more and looking back this helped my pace. Stamina needs to improve as my second half is much slower than the first. I have been getting out there because I have to otherwise I will not keep going but today I enjoyed the run. Perhaps because it was not blowing a gale, or because despite being blinded by the sun it was lovely to be out in it - or maybe because my legs did not ache as much as usual on the run.
Whatever your motive for running keep at it and don’t give up. Just believe in yourselves.
