Today I ran 10K. I knew I had to do it in November but I thought Remembrance Sunday was the best day to do it as it was #mypoppyrun.
I had worked out that my average pace is 6:12/km. I had not trained for the run and didn't think too much into it. I knew that was a stupid thing to do but all I knew was I can run further if I slow down. So I did. I reduced my pace to 7:17/km and ran the whole thing without stopping. It feels odd running slower but I could see the endurance benefits.
I will rest up for a few days now. I have one more run before I graduate. I want to be fully rested before I complete my last run.
I thought the Poppy run was a 5k, mine certainly was so not sure why you needed to do 10k this weekend?
Hopefully you may get away with doubling your distance in one run, particularly as you dont yet seem to have graduated C25k. Over use injuries creep up on you and the IC is not a nice place. New runners beware!
With regard lack of training and lack of building distance/time sensibly, as i would say to my teacher Daughter, could do better Teach!
Hi. There’s a run called My Poppy Run which is 10K. You can choose where and when you run it as long as you do it in November. As my upcoming weekends are busy, I thought I’d cramp it in.
I feel ok today but time will tell. I was wearing compression shin sleeves yesterday which have helped me avoid any injuries so far.
As I’ve got a few mad days ahead, the next time I can run is Saturday. I will follow the 30 minute time limit to ensure I don’t over do it. Thanks for the advice.
