Hard to believe!

For years I told myself I was the wrong shape, too overweight, too old to run. I talked myself out of it.

Having just completed w8r2 and covered 4.48 km I am over the moon. Not only was it a beautiful day but I actually enjoyed running around the neighbourhood.

Ok I am not the fastest and I must look a state in my joggers and rugby shirt but that does not matter. What does matter is that each run builds on the previous run boosting aerobic fitness and doing my health no end of good.

I can relate to that. I hadn’t ruN for years (over 40) but I have just finished week 7 run 3 and enjoying it . Even if I don’t look the part 😀🏃🏃

On this lovely forum the great thing is there’s no right age, right shape, right weight - that’s the thing I learned early on. What does seem to be the ‘right’ attribute is a willingness to give each step a go, even when sometimes we go backwards to end up moving forward.

That’s the thing we all have in common, a willingness to try, even when inside we are cringing with embarrassment at being the ‘wrong’ age, shape, weight, speed etc.

I love the fact that you are enjoying the running, and you know rugby shirt and joggers, has a certain je ne sais quoi! 👍👟 Just 4 enjoyable runs from a podium that is waiting for a rugby shirt and joggers gentleman!

And there is no reason why you won't go on running for many years to come, building wonderful memories of experiences that you could have so easily completely missed.

Keep running, keep smiling.
